Standort: epiphytisch oder terretrisch, entlang der pazifischen Anden, in Kolumbien bis ins Inland in Höhenlagen von 1500 - 2300m, in Ekuador in Höhenlagen von 200 - 1200m, im feucht warmen Tropenwald an schattigen Stellen.
Anmerkungen: Anthurium compact hort. konnte jetzt ziemlich eindeutig als Anthurium umbricola identifiziert werden. Die Einordnung von Anthurium umbricola ist sehr schwierig, da diese Art ein großes Verbreitungsgebiet hat und in verschiedenen Höhenlagen vorkommt. Auch die Herbarbelege sind widersprüchlich.
