Phosphorus drives root development, flowering, and fruit set, and in bone meal it is released gradually over roughly 3 to 4 months as soil microbes break down the bone matrix — a sustained curve rather than the spike-and-tail of fast-release synthetic phosphates, with low burn risk when used as directed. The 24% calcium supports cell-wall strength and root development. Bone meal is a go-to amendment for flowering bulbs, transplants, root crops, fruiting vegetables, roses, and fruit trees, worked into the soil at planting.

It is a soil amendment, not a water-soluble product — it cannot be used in hydroponic systems or as a foliar spray, and it performs best in soils at or below pH 7.0 with active microbial life; above roughly pH 7.5 phosphate availability drops.
