Monstera adansonii, commonly known as the "Swiss Cheese Plant" due to its unique perforated leaves, is a popular and relatively easy-to-care-for houseplant. Here’s how to keep your Monstera adansonii happy and healthy:

Light

  • Bright, Indirect Light: It thrives in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can cause leaf burn, while too little light can slow growth and reduce leaf perforation. A spot near a window with filtered light is ideal.

Temperature

  • Warm Temperatures: Maintain temperatures between 65°F and 85°F (18°C to 29°C).

Humidity

  • High Humidity: Monstera adansonii prefers higher humidity levels. Aim for 60% or more. You can increase humidity by using a humidifier, placing the pot on a pebble tray with water, or grouping it with other plants.

Watering

  • Moderate Watering: Water the plant when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry. Water thoroughly until it drains out of the bottom of the pot, then let the soil dry out slightly before watering again. Be cautious not to overwater, as it can lead to root rot.

Soil

  • Well-Draining Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix. A mix designed for tropical plants, or a combination of peat, perlite, and orchid bark, works well. Good drainage is crucial to avoid waterlogged soil.

Fertilizing

  • Balanced Fertilizer: Feed your Monstera adansonii every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer. Reduce feeding in the colder months.

Pruning and Maintenance

  • Pruning: Prune as needed to control size and encourage bushier growth. Remove any yellow or damaged leaves to keep the plant healthy and improve air circulation.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and keep the plant looking its best.

Repotting

  • Repotting Frequency: Repot your Monstera every 1-2 years or when it outgrows its pot. Choose a pot that is 1-2 inches larger in diameter than the current one and refresh the potting mix to provide new nutrients and space for growth.

Support

  • Support Structure: As a climbing plant, Monstera adansonii may benefit from a moss pole or trellis to support its growth. This allows the plant to climb and develop larger leaves with more dramatic perforations.

Pests and Problems

  • Watch for Pests: Be on the lookout for common pests like spider mites, mealybugs, and scale. Regularly inspect the plant and treat any infestations with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
  • Disease Prevention: Avoid overhead watering to prevent fungal issues and ensure good air circulation around the plant to reduce the risk of mold and mildew.

With these care tips, your Monstera adansonii should thrive, adding a touch of tropical flair to your indoor space.

I like this brush
Style: Medium Dog, Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I'd used the thumb brush, the slanted brush and a human soft-bristled toothbrush on my dog over the course of four years. I hate those thumb silicone brushes because my fingers are slim so it slides everywhere. The slanted one is cool. But I got so used to being able to use this collection of human soft-bristled toothbrushes that I'd gotten from the dentist. This one felt weird at first. My dog didn't really understand what I was putting in her mouth and jerked back. We'd gotten a system down for how far back to go so I wasn't knocking her gums and held her jaw out to see her teeth. It's weird not having to do that anymore. I like the brush now. It's a little pricier than other dog toothbrushes. I think if I hadn't used human toothbrushes (and gotten so many compliments from dog vets who didn't know that was what I was using), I would've started off with this one. I'll probably use it again after the three months. Not sure yet.

Low cost buy to put off big costs later
Style: Big Dog, Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
These came recommended to us by our veterinary dentist. The bristles are soft and hold up great even with daily use on multiple dogs (they each now have their own toothbrush). It definitely doesn’t beat a yearly cleaning, but it helps prevent oral issues.

The best toothbrush, and I've tried them all!
Style: Small Dog, Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I have a little 4 year old Maltese and Shih Tzu mix. She has very tiny teeth that are already starting to show signs of dental disease. I know it's important that they get brushed because small breed dogs are more prone to dental and gum problems. But I've tried every little toothbrush out there and it's a battle trying to brush her teeth. And unfortunately she usually wins! This brush is the best. It is soft and round and she completely tolerates it. I put a little doggie toothpaste on it, which she likes the taste of, and I'm finally able to at least move the brush and paste around her gum line. She still fights me a bit, but nothing like she used to. I would highly suggest that you give this toothbrush a try.

Flimsy and snapped easily
Style: Big Dog, Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
Snapped in literally under a minute of using it. The toothbrush head is so small and the handle is really thin and flimsy even though it’s advertised for large dogs… I’m so disappointed.
